Zeynep Sila Akinci is a doctoral candidate in GEMOTT, with a schoolarship from Generalitat de Catalunya (FI). Her research focuses on effects of built environment on elders’ outdoor activities, including physical activity and time spent out-of-home, in Barcelona. She also teaches Cartography and Geographical Information Systems to bachelor students.

Zeynep holds a masters degree on Urban and Industrial Ecology (within Interdisciplinary Studies on Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability) from ICTA, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and a bachelor’s degree on Urban Design and Landscape Architecture from Bilkent University. She also studied Architectural Theory in Mardin Artuklu University. Related with her previous field, she published articles about infrastructure and resource territories in Climates: Architecture and the Planetary Imaginary (Columbia Books & Lars Müller, 2016), and Geoforum.
